Workshop topics
Romantic approach to psychology and psychotherapy
This session invites psychologists and psychotherapists to explore a romantic approach to therapy, where therapeutic insight emerges through questioning the limits of a purely rational outlook. We will examine how disillusionment with rational conventions can be transformative, offering clients a pathway to re-enchant their experience of the world. Focusing on clients who favour a dominant rational mindset, we will discuss ways to gently open them to the possibility of a romantic outlook—one that values wonder, emotional depth, and spontaneity. The session includes an analysis of scenes from The Dead Poet's Society to illustrate the therapeutic movement from disenchantment to a renewed sense of meaning, as well as a clinical case study demonstrating how re-enchantment unfolds through the therapeutic process. Participants will engage in discussions on how Romanticism’s emphasis on emotional experience can deepen clients' self-understanding and resilience.

Aristotle and the emotional wisdom of therapists and clients
Therapy is an intricate dance, an ongoing interplay of skill, emotion, cognition and intuition. Join us in this webinar to explore how Aristotle’s skill of practical wisdom allows therapists to navigate moments of uncertainty and complexity. Through the lens of a real-life therapeutic moment with 'Mark', we will examine how clinical judgment, emotional wisdom, and the therapeutic alliance come together to support a client’s journey. Learn how to stay present, interpret cues, and balance care with professional boundaries, all while maintaining reflexive awareness of your own interventions.
Postmodern playfulness, psychology and psychotherapy
This session explores how adopting a postmodern lens can transform therapeutic practice through flexibility, creativity, and collaborative meaning-making. Participants will learn how to incorporate playful engagement with clients’ narratives, encouraging exploration beyond fixed self-definitions and embracing uncertainty as a source of growth. By deconstructing rigid beliefs and inviting curiosity, therapists can foster a therapeutic space where both client and therapist engage in co-creating new perspectives. This session provides hands-on techniques for introducing humour, irony, and open-ended dialogue into sessions, empowering clients to view their experiences as dynamic and adaptable. Attendees will leave equipped with strategies to help clients rethink and reshape their identities and struggles in a way that emphasizes agency, adaptability, and resilience.
