Former MGSM lecturer Dr Steven Segal invites you to a 2-hour Foundations of Management Thought Refresher webinar looking at leadership philosophies from Machiavelli to Mandela:
EXISTENTIAL THREATS AND EMOTIONAL WISDOM FOR LEADERS AND MANAGERS
Some of the questions to be addressed include:
What are existential threats?
Why should leaders understand existential threats?
What is emotional wisdom?
What is the role of leadership under conditions of existential threat?
How is it different from intelligence – cognitive and emotional intelligence?
The idea of emotional wisdom is a reframing drawn from Aristotle’s idea of practical wisdom. Emotional wisdom is the ability to make the most effective judgments in the right way, at the right time and in the right mood.
Philosophy and psychology offer us the emotional wisdom to respond proactively to the lived experience of danger felt in existential threats. Embracing threats requires not only resilience but resolve.
This 2-hour webinar will look at the role of emotional wisdom in responding to existential threats. The focus will be on leadership philosophies and examples from Machiavelli to Mandela.
